Carleton University Writing Competition — Working on submission, deadline December 14th, 2012
3 Day International Novel Writing Contest — In review process, winners announced January 2013
Welcome to Revised Circuitry, the official website of author Kelly A. Taylor (Ottawa, ON, Canada). Why call the site Revised Circuitry? It mixes the important process of editing and revising one's works, along with my love of Science Fiction and self identification as a Science Fiction writer.
Something important to note is that I believe in the essence of early Science Fiction (the Golden Age of Science Fiction, 1930s to 1950s). My favourite authors (and thus influences/inspirations) include: Ray Bradbury, Aldous Huxley, Franz Kafka, Isaac Asimov, Phillip K. Dick, William F. Nolan, George Clayton Johnson, Edgar Allan Poe and Anne Rice. While I am aware the last two authors listed are not typically thrust into the category of Science Fiction, their unique voices and visions, their overall thematic styles do lend themselves to the Sci-Fi persona.
While my list of Works and current Attempts/Awards may seem quite minuscule at this time, I can assure you I have a wide range of works on the go: at least two lengthy novel projects, one completed novel currently awaiting judgement (A la International 3 Day Novel Contest), and the beginnings of a 5-6 short story collection, tentatively called: "RetroFuture".
When I am not writing I am typically hard at work on my full term courses. I am attending studies at Carleton University, working toward a BA Honours with a Major in English (concentration on Creative Writing), and perhaps a minor either in Film or Art History.
Bookmark the site, stay tuned and hopefully I will be able to reveal some more details over the next few weeks. Also check out the Contact section to "Like" my Facebook page and follow me on "Twitter" & "Tumblr".
We will talk again soon,
Kelly A. Taylor
